Tip: Auto Insurance without a license
PDF Print E-mail

It is possible to get car insurance without license. There are several companies that provide coverage for these individuals. When you first approach a company about auto insurance you should let them know up front that you are looking for coverage and you do not have a license.

Be aware that this type of insurance is strictly temporary as you cannot get insurance for a year without a license as this goes against the law.

  • Many companies may provide you insurance if you obtain your license in the near future, or within a specific time frame.
  • One of the main reasons why people seek this type of insurance is because they have had their license suspended and need to maintain car insurance in order to have their license reinstated. Most insurance companies will give you 30 to 45 days to get your license.
  • The other main reason for obtaining such coverage is that you have just moved to another country and hold an international drivers license but have yet to get one for your new country of residence. Almost all governments require auto insurance so they must have policies available for all possibilities. You can check with your local DMV for recommendations.
